Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Guo Shaochun paid a courtesy call Harare Mayor Herbert Gomba and discussed a cocktail of issues among them the China Exim Bank $144 million project.
Mayor Gomba stressed the need for the outstanding $72 million to be released.
Human Resources and General Purposes Committee chairperson Cllr Jacob Mafume also attended the meeting.
to discuss on the pertinent developmental projects which need attention,inorder to map a way forward to fast-track the initiatives.
“As we strive towards being a World Class City, we are keen for investments in infrastructure development, renewable energy and many other sectors."
“We were looking into areas where they can help us to craft more deals which will ease some of our problems. We thank his Excellency for visiting and discussing into focus areas of concern, in which we want to better ourselves.
“With such ventures we will be able to show the uniqueness of Harare and we will tabling developmental,” Mayor Gomba said.
The Chinese Ambassador said the cordial relationship between the two nations, in particular City of Harare has seen the promulgation of key developmental projects, and new areas of investment to focus into.
“Its important to visit the Mayor of the City a courtesy call to discuss such issues. The relations between China and Zimbabwe are very strong.” he said
“We talked about issues to do with water supply, Chinese enterprises conducting phase 1 works and we know Harare needs help. We learnt about the need to upgrade the water and sanitary infrastructures and the health facilities through investing in renewable energy, and its very important.
“We are more than pleased to see the developments and wish progress, as even our Embassy is based here in the capital.” he said.
