Cresta Hotels has bought into the Smart City concept through incorporating smart technology in its refurbishment projects which are set to put Harare on the map in the tourism and hospitality industry.
The move comes at a time when the city has been calling on property owners to renovate and refurbish their buildings as well as adopt the Smart City Concept through adopting modern technology.
Speaking at a familiarization tour at Cresta Jameson Hotel today in the capital, Cresta country director Ms Chipo Mandela said the incorporation of technology into the Tourism and Hospitality business will ensure the ease of doing business and restore the City of Harare to its glory days.
“Our decision to undertake a US$2, 5 million refurbishment programmes was made in order to bring about restoration of everything. Technology upgrading is very much part of this project and this will be reflected in back office and front of house systems, including the introduction of Alexxa into our bedrooms, access controlled elevators, video conferencing in our conference rooms, Electronic Meal Tickets to manage cost of sales and so on,” she said.
“The final product will be attractive, modern, pleasant, efficient and welcoming. This is a hotel which Cresta is proud of and the whole tourism and travel sector can also be proud of. The City of Harare should be proud.”
