Renee Gardens Adopts Samora Machel Avenue

Harare City Council has signed a partnership deal with Renee Gardens that will result in the latter adopting Samora Machel Avenue from 4th Street to Rotten Row Street.

Renee Gardens is an upcoming private company that deals in landscape designing, horticulture and events management. The company will plant some lawn, flowers, trees and also provide labour for the upkeep and maintenance of Samora Machel Avenue from 4th Street to Rotten Row Street.Speaking at a colourful ceremony held at Town House, the chairman of the commission running the affairs of the city of Harare Mr. Michael Mahachi said, "The coming aboard of Renee Gardens to beautify our city comes at a time the city is making huge strides to improve its infrastructure as we look forward to transform Harare into a world class city by year 2010. Mr. Mahachi encouraged other individuals and corporates to emulate what Renee Gardens is doing in order to beautify Harare as part of corporate social responsibility."As a city, we cannot go it alone in bringing back sanity to Harare and in the restoration of the Sunshine City status it is affectionately known the world over. There is great need for all stakeholders and ratepayers to actively participate so that Harare regains its original status," said Mr. Mahachi. Renee Gardens Managing Director Ms Renee Mucherahowa said that they chose to adopt Samora Machel Avenue because of strategic reasons. "We have decided to adopt Samora Machel because it is strategic in that most of our leaders use this road almost everyday. We want to make it appeal to everyone including tourists", Ms Mucherahowa said.As part of the partnership, Renee Gardens has extended the gesture to beautify Town House grounds. They will do some landscape designing, plant some lawn and flowers as well as maintain the plants in the endeavor to make sure that Town House becomes a fitting headquarters of a sunshine city.
