FUNCTIONS

The department is responsible for six core functions, namely development planning, environment and enforcement; transportation and traffic planning; valuation and estates management; land survey and mapping; architecture and building developments; technical support and project management. A great part of the department’s business function is to develop policies that guide the public and private sector investment around the city. Another important focus area is the processing of town planning permits, building plan approval, sale and lease of municipal owned land. To buttress the focus areas is the Technical Support Services which provides advice, information, coordination and monitoring of infrastructure development.
