City of Harare Water Department Undergoes Third Quarter Performance Review
The City of Harare Department of Water underwent its Third-Quarter Performance Review yesterday, as part of the ongoing City of Harare performance review exercise aimed at strengthening accountability, service delivery and performance.

The City of Harare Department of Water underwent its Third-Quarter Performance Review yesterday, as part of the ongoing City of Harare performance review exercise aimed at strengthening accountability, service delivery and performance. The review was conducted by Best Practices Private Limited, a Government-appointed firm supporting the institutionalisation of performance management across public administration. The exercise involved a briefing session at Morton Jaffray Water Treatment Plant and a field verification tour to confirm reported achievements on the ground. During its presentation, Harare Water management highlighted that Lake Chivero, the City's main supply dam, is currently at 62% capacity. Management said a key ongoing project is the rehabilitation of filters and pump stations. Of the six filters targeted, four have been completed. The rehabilitation works are expected to add 72 megalitres to the current daily water production, significantly boosting supply to residents of Harare. The review process involves three stages: self-evaluation, moderation and validation of performance scores, as well as field verification visits. The exercise is aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and results-driven service delivery, in line with City of Harare's mandate to provide clean, safe and consistent water to residents.
