Acitng Town Clerk Meets Visiting InSITE Executive Director
Acting Town Clerk Adv Warren Sean Chiwawa says the City of Harare is happy to host the first InSITE International Conference to be held on the African continent.

Acting Town Clerk Adv Warren Sean Chiwawa says the City of Harare is happy to host the first InSITE International Conference to be held on the African continent. Speaking during a meeting with InSITE Executive Director, Prof. Michael Jones, at Town House today, Adv Chiwawa highlighted the suitability of Zimbabwe as the best place to host the 2027 InSITE International Conference. "Our successful bid to host the InSITE International Conference, first in 2021 — unfortunately disturbed by COVID-19 — and now pencilled for 2027, speaks to our propriety as a country, in terms of tourism and being a good host, as endorsed by Forbes, which in 2025 voted Zimbabwe as the best tourism destination. "InSITE's overwhelming vote to give Zimbabwe hosting rights also speaks to that global level of confidence in our country and City of Harare as an ideal host for such technical and research-based conferences," said Adv. Chiwawa. He pledged full support for the 2027 InSITE International Conference saying, "We shall give you a team that you will be working with to spearhead the programme. Our School of Excellence will take the lead on this one but all our facilities and support as a City will be at your disposal to guarantee an excellent conference." Adv. Chiwawa urged Prof. Jones to explore and enjoy the great tourist attractions Harare, and the rest of Zimbabwe have to offer. Acknowledging the warm reception accorded to him since his arrival on Monday night, Prof. Jones thanked his host and expressed his profound gratitude for the facilitation being provided by the City of Harare. He said the Artificial Intelligence theme of the 2027 InSITE International Conference is perfectly timed to dovetail into Harare's smart city vision while addressing global issues that transcend the City's urban developmental needs. Acting Human Capital Director Mr Jabulani Duve, Head of the Harare School of Excellence Mr Stewart Mungofa, Programme Coorditor (Research), Dr Chipo Mutongi, and other senior Council officials also attended today's meeting. The research-based solutions derived from the 2027 InSITE International Conference are expected to promote Zimbabwe's National Development Strategy 2, guided by Vision 2030 whose central focus is the elevation of Zimbabwe into an upper-middle income society, leaving no one and no place behind.
