Council has resolved that new cluster house owners should upgrade sewer and water systems to suit the number of residents on their development.
Environmental Management Committee Chairperson, Councillor Blessing Duma said that those applying for cluster house development should commit to improving sewer and water systems before approval by council.
“We have so far resolved that every new cluster house development, every extension and every house that is going to be done, the permit now has a condition that one must upgrade own systems of water and sewer,” he said.
He said sewer problems were being caused by an increase in pressure at cluster house developments with systems that are not improved and also the failure of systems to meet the number of new residents residing at the premise.
“Some of the blockage problems are being caused by people who are doing cluster developments but they are not upgrading the systems.
